Do you have a child who is smart, an out-of-the-box thinker who loves to create but struggles with academic skills like reading, spelling, and writing? Do these challenges, plus frequent moves, make international school life difficult for your child? Maybe your child even says things like, “Everyone is smarter than me; I’m dumb. I don’t have any friends.” Which makes this globally mobile lifestyle even harder.

Moving often disrupts the relationship a child with dyslexia needs most: a consistent teacher who understands their strengths and can personalize their reading, spelling, writing, and maybe math learning needs.

Plus, you know, you can’t only rely on international schools to support your child. Learning support teachers have different approaches and schedules frequently get interrupted, especially during these times.

Get your child the consistent, expert teacher they need now, so your child is able to reach their full potential and feel confident in school no matter where you live in the world.

The Dyslexia Comprehensive Care is a semester-long program that includes the following:

  • Diagnostic assessment of your child’s reading skills including phonological awareness, letter/sound knowledge, fluency, comprehension, and spelling
  • Review and consultation on your child’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) goals
  • 2 x per week personalized reading, spelling, and writing lessons using the Orton Gillingham explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory approach done after school or within the school day
  • Homework and classroom assignment support in writing, mathematics, and other school subjects
  • Study and executive functioning skill building to improve focus, organization, and time management
  • Weekly parent email communication to share your child’s academic progress and next steps
  • Monthly check-ins with your child’s teachers to advocate for your child’s learning needs at school
  • App recommendations to support your child’s reading and writing development at home

Dyslexia Comprehensive Care gives your child the consistent, highly-qualified teacher they need to reach their full potential, so your child isn’t left trying to start over with every move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Oftentimes, classroom teachers don’t have the time to modify assignments to remove barriers Dyslexia may cause for your child. I will partner with your child’s teachers to remove these barriers, such as concept mapping vocabulary for a science unit, or reviewing math problems before a test.

I take extra care to tailor my instruction to your child’s individual needs, interests, and mood. As a result, children often prefer their sessions with me to their learning support classes. That’s the benefit of being a highly qualified and experienced classroom teacher; I understand Dyslexia but how to encourage, motivate and engage with each child.

Having taught in international schools for over a decade, I know Learning Support teachers sometimes lack the knowledge and training to support children with Dyslexia. Plus, international school schedules frequently get interrupted, so your child might miss the learning support classes they need. With Dyslexia Comprehensive Care, I provide the consistent, qualified instruction your child needs to succeed academically and feel confident in school. Dyslexia Comprehensive Care guarantees your child receives the highly qualified instructors that will help your child achieve his or her Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Learning Plan (ILP goals.
