Hi! I'm Katie Fowle, an online reading teacher for ex-pat children with reading difficulties and dyslexia.

I’m on a mission to help ex-pat children with reading difficulties build confidence in themselves. That's why my programs combine online reading, spelling, and writing instruction with social and emotional skills, so your child gets the consistent, teacher relationship he or she needs to succeed in school no matter where you live in the world.

Moving is hard enough, but it only worsens when your child has difficulties reading or dyslexia. Changing curriculum, teachers, and friends make it hard for your child to catch up.

“I feel stupid! Everyone is smarter than me. I don’t have any friends!” These are super difficult words to hear as a parent.

That’s why I created Learning to Flourish. To provide consistent expert reading and spelling instruction personalized to your child’s needs done virtually, your child has the consistent teacher relationship they need to succeed academically and feel confident in school no matter where you live in the world.

Unlike other tutors or therapists, I am a professional licensed State of Virginia educator with over a decade of experience working in international schools. Therefore, I understand your child’s environment and create a personalized plan to meet their needs. I have specialized training in the Orton Gillingham approach and am pursuing certification through the International Dyslexia Association as a Structured Literacy, Dyslexia Interventionalist. With this experience, I will tailor my instruction to meet your child’s reading and spelling needs and work alongside your child’s classroom teacher to remove any barriers reading difficulties may cause in school.

In addition to my work with children, I consult with the US State Department Office of Overseas Schools, am a trainer for the Center of Excellence in Foreign Affairs Resilience, and other international organizations to provide teacher and parent workshops on social and emotional learning and dyslexia.
